The Suicide Prevention Task Force is dedicated to training the community, school officials, medical providers, law enforcement and beyond in Suicide Prevention. The Suicide Prevention Task Force has partnered with NAMI of McHenry County to implement Suicide Prevention trainings.

  • QPR

    Question, Persuade, and Refer is a one-hour presentation that will teach you simple suicide prevention techniques. Much like CPR of the Heimlich maneuver, the use of QPR may save a life.

  • Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

    MHFA is an eight-hour skills-based training that teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental Illness & substance use disorders. We have a separate youth-focused training (YMHFA) designed for adults who regularly interact with youth to assist those who may be experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge or are in crisis.

  • Ending the Silence

    Our Ending the Silence program offers three presentations to choose from: one for middle and high school students, one for their parents/guardians, and one for school faculty/staff. Participants learn the warning signs of mental health conditions, discover strategies to improve mental health, and discuss the importance of open communication about mental health concerns.

  • Mental Health in the Workplace

    A one-hour presentation that walks employers through strategies to support mental health in the workplace on both the micro and macro levels. This presentation is based on the Surgeon General’s Framework for Workplace Mental Health and Well-Being.

  • Self-Care and Burnout

    A one-hour, interactive presentation that discusses the signs of stress, and burnout, and how to combat them. Participants will then discuss self-care and will complete an interactive self-care toolkit to take home with them.

  • Firearm Safety Presentation

    A one-hour presentation describing the importance of firearm secure storage in suicide prevention and firearm misuse. Participants will understand the role firearms play in suicide, the types of secure storage, firearm restraining orders, and beyond.

  • Firearm Safety for Healthcare Providers

    A one-hour presentation describing healthcare providers' unique position to discuss firearm secure storage and lethal means of safety with their patients. The presentation will be modeled after an evidence-based program developed out of the University of California Davis and the State of California.
