I’ve lost someone to suicide
Losing a loved one to suicide is difficult and can come with complicated emotions. There is support available to help survivors of suicide loss like you, your friends, and family cope with the loss. The McHenry County Suicide Prevention Task Force sponsors a Survivor’s of Suicide Loss Support Group which meets twice a month. Information can be found on the flyer to the right.
How to take care of yourself
The aftermath of a loved one’s suicide can be full of confusing and painful emotions. If you’re struggling, the 988 Lifeline is always available for support.

Don’t feel pressured to talk right away. If you choose to discuss your loss, speaking can give your friends and family the opportunity to support you in an appropriate way.

Some people find writing helpful, while others might be more comfortable with prayer or meditation. However, writing a letter to a lost loved one can be comforting and can be a safe space to express your feelings you were unable to say before their death.
